I am currently working as a freelance web designer. I have been in the technology industry for nearly 15 years. I have worked as a consultant, designer, developer, team lead, and release manager. I use skills from all my previous experience to help create user friendly, engaging, professional web sites. I also design logos and business cards. Software Consultant

Worked as a software consultant in the financial services industry. Contributed to the development and augmentation of several custom ASP.NET applications for a large private investment fund in New York City. Worked closely with the client to prioritize project requirements and to manage team resources. Utilized agile development practices to facilitate fast-paced requirements-driven releases. Collaborated with team designer to create user-friendly, responsive interfaces. Authored (C#) a new application for the integration of the client's custom contact software with Microsoft Outlook. Created and maintained SQL Server 2000 database tables, views, scripts, stored procedures and jobs to produce and manage time-critical financial data and statistics used for reporting and for the support of the custom ASP.NET applications. Utilized IBM's Rational Functional Tester to create robust functional regression tests which were run before each application release. Authored a custom Java parser to display test results in a user-friendly intranet report so the client could monitor functional test results.

Manager of Content Process & Automation, Global Trade Content

Managed a team of technical resources to support the collection of complex real-time trade content for over 70 countries. Re-engineered and monitored the data collection process for a team of 15 trade specialists. Designed and built a full tool suite (Java) to automate the collection of data. Coordinated with the systems operations team to deliver real-time content releases. Worked closely with Product Management and Engineering to assure that the Open Harbor product suite properly utilized and delivered the trade content to our clients. Defined department-level metrics to ensure that team milestones were met and that processes were operationally efficient.

Independent Contractor, Software Development

Designed and built a Web-based application for Junior High Science Teachers. Built Java server applications using WebObjects development tools and an Oracle database and deployed them on a Windows 2000 server. Completed thorough testing and documentation to allow for easy maintenance. The tool had two parts, a viewer, which allowed teachers to view the curricula and example videos, and an editor that allowed teachers and content analysts to enter and update curriculum data.

Build/Release Manager

Led a team of two developers to create the tools required to run and support the build/release process. Coordinated a complex release schedule (daily and monthly releases) with product management, QA, and development. Managed software configurations for development, QA and staging servers. Worked with systems to facilitate the propagation of new releases to the live machines. Wrote makefiles using Opus Make and nMake to support building the Java-based Web page editor, ISAPI DLL back-end and HTML/ASP Web site. Designed and implemented software engineering practices for Java and C++ development environments. Documented processes and procedures on the company intranet and educated a department of 35 developers on new policies.

Administrated Visual Source Safe Database. Maintained 5 GB of data spread over three databases. Designed and implemented new structures as needed to incorporate new build requirements. Assured data integrity by implementing strict user and maintenance guidelines.

Software Developer

Developed a Java-based Web page editor. Re-architected and coded the tool's text editor. Wrote ISAPI DLLs for back-end support of Web page elements such as guest books and Web polls. Development also included extensive use of SQL, JavaScript and HTML.

Researched emerging Internet technologies to create an electronic procurement market offering for large corporations. Built prototypes to integrate multiple companies' legacy systems along a value chain. Designed and implemented a strategy for packaging and deploying assets from Andersen's Technology R&D group.

Software Developer

Programmed on a variety of Web-based or standalone, interactive, educational software projects. Developed a parser (LISP) used for translating a user's requests into keywords that the computer could understand. Designed and built (LISP) a memory hierarchy for content storage. Developed (C++) a user interface integrating video and graphics with a simulation engine. Coded (C++) enhancements to a tool that allowed content experts to design and script scenarios for a simulation.

Consultant, Technology Strategy

Worked on an IT assessment for a large auto manufacturer's sales and marketing division. Examined existing systems documentation and interviewed systems personnel and business users to gain a detailed understanding of the client's current systems environment. Created detailed technical recommendations for the systems department in conjunction with strategic business recommendations that were delivered to the client. Authored an application hosting strategy white paper to aid the client in determining the appropriate platform for existing systems and new development.

Consultant, IT Systems Integration

Managed system enhancements for an HMO's imaging and workflow member services system. Facilitated design sessions with users to identify and prioritize needs. Completed detailed technical and functional design specifications for the installation (Visual Basic, FileNet, Oracle DBMS). Created a detailed work plan for the installation phase. Supervised a programming team during the first phase of the installation.

Developed Order Entry Imaging and Customer Service systems for a Mail Order Pharmacy. Completed functional and technical design and development for seven external system interfaces, including Voice Response Unit technology. Supervised Andersen Consulting and client programmers (Visual Basic, Informix 4GL, Informix DBMS). Took part in system test development and execution.

Created a decision support system for a large oil company's purchasing division. Wrote design specifications (SQL Windows, Sybase DBMS). Supervised programmers through development and system test phases.
